1. Orange Glow – 25 and 26 April

On Friday 25 April and Saturday 26 April, the events OranjeNacht and OranjeGloed 2025 will take place at the Vrijthof Square on the occasion of King’s Day.

The event on Friday 25 April requires a ticket, available at oranjegloed.com. The event on Saturday 26 April is free to all Maastricht residents. Both events will end earlier than usual, out of respect for the living environment in the city centre.

For local residents, there will be a community drink on Thursday 24 April at 19:00 on the Vrijthof square.

Times of events:
– OrangeNight: Friday 25 April, 6pm – 11pm
– Orange Glow: Saturday 26 April, 11:00 – 20:00

2. Centre survey results

The results of the centre survey have been published and can be accessed at centrummaastricht.nl. A PDF version, including comments from respondents, is available for download. The results have also been shared with the municipality. Further analyses will follow in the coming period, aimed at setting priorities for improving liveability in the city centre. You will be further informed about this in due course.

For questions, please contact: info@centrummaastricht.nl.

3. Hoeskamer Sterzaal

After being awarded the Citizens’ Budget, the City Centre Neighbourhood Network entered into a partnership with Royal Harmony Star of Maastricht regarding the Hoeskamer.

The first activity – an Easter flower arranging day supervised by a florist – has already taken place. The intention is to further use the Hoeskamer for a variety of activities, such as coffee mornings, IT questions, lectures and seasonal gatherings.

We are also looking for an original name for the Hoeskamer. Your suggestion is most welcome! The winner will receive a €25 gift voucher. Please send your entry to: info@buurtnetwerkbinnenstad.nl.

4. Trial closure of Kleine Gracht during Friday market

To promote road safety during the Friday market, the Kleine Gracht will be opened to destination traffic only between 09:00 and 16:00. A traffic controller will supervise this. Residents and business owners will retain access to their premises.

This measure will be introduced on a trial basis for a period of six months, starting this Friday. Afterwards, an evaluation will take place to determine whether the measure contributes to a safer traffic situation. If it is extended, you will be informed.

Any questions? Feel free to contact us at: marktmeesters@maastricht.nl.

5. Closure of Wilhelmina bridge and surrounding streets in Wyck

From 6 May to the end of November 2025, work will take place on Franciscus Romanusweg, Wilhelminasingel, Wilhelminabrug and Sint Maartenslaan.

For eight weeks – from week 27 (30 June) to week 34 (23 August) – the Wilhelminabrug will be completely closed to traffic. Arriva buses will be diverted via the Noorderbrug, and De Lijn’s Belgian buses will only run as far as Mosae Forum.

More information is available via the ConstructionApp.

6. Benches on the Onze Lieve Vrouwenplein

New benches were recently installed on Onze Lieve Vrouweplein, the hinge point between the Jeker and Stokstraat quarters.

During inspections for the implementation plans in both quarters, this wish clearly emerged. With this addition, the square has been enriched with fine seating areas for spring and summer.
