1. Halloween craft morning for children in the Hoeskamer of the Sterzaal

On Thursday 16 October from 10:00 to 12:00, the Sterzaal at Bredestraat 19 in Maastricht will be transformed into a creative Halloween workshop!

Children aged 6 to 12 can enjoy making spooky masks together here. With colouring pictures, scissors, string and a good dose of imagination, we can make the scariest creations.

All materials are provided, and of course we will also provide some tasty treats. 🎨🍪You are welcome to come in costume — the scarier, the better!

Parents and carers are of course also welcome! Enjoy a cup of coffee while the children get stuck into their crafts and show off their spooky creations.

Participation in this Halloween craft party is free of charge.

👉 Register before 14 October via: info@hoeskamer-sterzaol.nl

2. Bus line 3 will return via the south-western part of the city centre from 2026 onwards.

On Tuesday evening, 30 September, the municipal council unanimously approved the proposal by the Province and Arriva to reroute bus line 3 via Markt Zuid – Vrijthof – Bouillonstraat – Tongersestraat from Sunday, 4 January 2026, and back via Calvariestraat – Kommel – Helmstraat – Markt Zuid.

This decision is in line with the aim of improving the public transport structure in the city centre, a process that began five years ago. However, concerns have been raised about road safety, particularly around loading and unloading at the Vrijthof. This issue deserves further attention, but the core of the problem lies not solely with city buses, but with the broader traffic situation involving (freight) traffic in the city centre.

This decision represents an important step towards further optimising public transport in the city centre. In the long term, the focus will be on using smaller buses, which will also enable the Jekerkwartier to regain a full connection.

The council’s approval is good news for many residents of south-west and north-east Maastricht and the south-western part of the city centre, who will benefit from improved public transport accessibility from 2026 onwards.

3. A Table of Stars will be organised again this year.

The Buurtnetwerk Binnenstad (City Centre Neighbourhood Network) is organising another Sterrentafel (Table of Stars) event this year on Thursday 11 December, in collaboration with Koninklijke Harmonie Ster van Maastricht (Royal Harmony Star of Maastricht) (date subject to change). We will let you know as soon as there is any news or registration opens.
