1. Magic Table of Stars

The Magic Table of Stars was a great success! More than 110 guests enjoyed the delicious snacks on our festive table. In addition, there were plenty of drinks available thanks to the efforts of the Star Chamber volunteers. Under the enchanting sounds of Resonance, beautiful connections were made within our neighbourhood.

As a neighbourhood network, we are determined to keep this tradition alive and be back next year. Keep an eye on our newsletters!

2. Centre survey

The Centre survey will run until next weekend. So far, we have received about 190 completed surveys – a great number!

Would you still like to participate? You can still do so until 30 December (extended by one week). Fill in the Centre survey now via this link.

The results will be presented early next year.

3. Public transport in the city centre

Media reports announce that buses will be given a new route from 2025 and will bypass the Bassin Bridge. This means large city buses such as lines 4 and 7 are likely to disappear.

As you know, we have been consulting with the municipality, Arriva and, since last year, the province for four years. Our aim is to run smaller buses through the city centre. Although there will be short-term changes for line 12, it will not serve the Jeker Quarter, Kommel Quarter and the city centre. The Prins Bisschopsingel/Sint Pieterkade stop will also be dropped.

We continue to urge the municipality, Arriva and the province to improve public transport. Especially now that a car-free city centre is being sought, a good public transport network is essential. Our plea for a route through the Jeker Quarter (Sint Pieterstraat, Hondsstraat, Bredestraat, Bouillonstraat, Tongersestraat) remains undiminished.

4. New municipal waste policy 2025

The next few years will see many changes in waste:

  • From 1 January, PMD (plastic, metal packaging and drinking cartons) will be collected in much of the city, except for the city centre.
  • The residual waste bag is gradually disappearing from most neighbourhoods. Underground containers will replace it.
  • Good news: from 1 January, environmental parks will become free of charge (except for residual waste and bulky waste).
  • This makes waste separation easier and contributes to a cleaner and more sustainable Maastricht. Ultimately, we want to reduce waste and reuse raw materials for new products.

As mentioned, in the city centre, including downtown, PMD is not yet collected at home. It is not yet known when this will change. More information can be found on the municipality’s site.
