Maastricht University to research behaviour in Stadspark and Charles Eyckpark

by | 17 May 2025

When the sun is out, many people head to Stadspark and Charles Eyckpark – something the municipality actively encourages. Maastricht University is carrying out a study – on behalf of the municipality of Maastricht – into how people behave in these parks. The research is being launched in response to occasional problems with noise and litter. The goal is to explore how visitor behaviour might be positively influenced to reduce these issues.

Do you live or run a business nearby, or do you visit Stadspark or Charles Eyckpark regularly? If so, the researchers would love to speak with you. They’ll be conducting interviews of up to 30 minutes to talk about the park, noise and litter. As a thank you, you will receive a €15 digital VVV gift voucher. If you’d like to take part, please send an email to Fpn-stadsparkstudie@maastrichtuniversity.nl by Sunday 1 June 2025. You’ll then arrange a time together. If there’s a high level of interest, you might not get an invitation – participants will be chosen by random draw.

As well as interviews, the researchers will also be observing park activity and carrying out theoretical studies. The ideas that come out of this research will be tested in the park, and the most successful ones will be permanently introduced in Stadspark and Charles Eyckpark.
