Additional newsletter to benefit citizens’ budget

by | 21 January 2025

Dear residents and interested parties,

We would like to draw your attention to project 1017 of the Citizens’ Budget 2024 namely: FUTURE-PROOFING STAR HALL FOR MUSICIANS.

For decades, the Sterzaal at Bredestraat 19 has been home to the last harmony society in the city centre – the Koninklijke Harmonie Ster van Maastricht.
In addition, more and more (music) societies use the hall.
However, the facilities in the hall are dated and we would like to change this permanently.
In addition, the brass band is celebrating its 200th anniversary this year, which is an extra incentive for the board and our neighbourhood network to breathe new life into the Sterzaal.

The board of the Sterzaal has therefore submitted a project to the City of Maastricht’s Citizens’ Budget 2024 to improve the hall’s facilities. The project includes:

  • Painting the interior of the hall
  • Purchasing new chairs
  • Installing soundproof rooms for individual music lessons
  • Adapting the existing lighting

We would like to inform you, as citizens of the city and potential users of the Star Hall, about this project. You could make this project a success by casting your vote during the Citizens’ Budget ballot.

Besides individual users, the Neighbourhood Network also wants to use the Star Hall more often for events. The Star Table was a great success, and we see the Star Hall as an ideal venue to host such events more often.

You can do so by casting your vote for our project: project 1017 ‘Future-proofing Star Hall for musicians’.
You can cast your vote digitally by clicking on this link in the period from 20 to 26 January

https://www.burgerbegrotingmaastricht.nl/voting-form

You will then be able to search on the theme ‘Arts, culture and community life in the neighbourhood’ and then vote for project 1017.

You can also cast your vote in person on Saturday 1 February between 9.30 and 12.30 a.m. at Stadsbeheer’s location in Beatrixhaven (Ankerkade 275).
There you can talk to a representative of ours about the project, who can provide you with (more) information if you wish.

We hope for your support and vote.

Kind regards,

The board of the City Centre Neighbourhood Network, on behalf of the board of the Sterzaal.
