Herewith the second quarter newsletter with the following topics:
1. Andre Rieu concerts
Once again, this year, André Rieu and his Johann Strauss Orchestra will delight us with several summer evening concerts on the Vrijthof Square. The concert dates at the Vrijthof are as follows:
- Thursday 6 July to Sunday 9 July
- Thursday 13 July to Sunday 16 July
- Thursday 20 July to Sunday 23 July

2. Current situation on Public Transport
On 20th April, a joint letter was sent on behalf of the City Centre, Jekerkwartier, and Kommelkwartier neighbourhoods to the provincial authorities, expressing concerns about the decline in public transport services in the southern part of Maastricht city centre. However, we have not yet received any acknowledgment or response.
Now that the new provincial government has been formed, we believe it is wise to reach out to the officials responsible for public transport matters.
3. Nazomertafel (Late Summer Table)
We are excited to announce that the Late Summer Table will take place on Wednesday 20th September, from 17:00 to 20:00, at the Lutheran Church. To secure your place at this special gathering, please register in advance using the following link.
4. English translation website and newsletters
In response to a request from students at Maastricht University, we are in the process of translating our newsletters and website into English. This will be particularly beneficial for the international students residing in and around the city centre. The newsletters are already being translated, and we expect the English version of the website to be completed by the end of August. We are using DeepL to translate into British English.
5. Neighbourhood participation meeting
Unfortunately, due to conflicting schedules and availability of participants, it is not feasible to schedule another meeting before the summer holidays. However, we are committed to organizing this meeting in September and will communicate the details as soon as possible.
6. Survey Centre Maastricht
In 2018 and 2020, the city centre Neighbourhood Network conducted two surveys. We are pleased to announce that we plan to conduct another survey at the end of this year, expanding it to include the Jekerkwartier, Kommelkwartier, Statenkwartier, Wijck, and Céramique neighbourhoods. You will receive further information regarding this survey.
