1. Magic Winter Table

On Wednesday 13 December, our Magical Winter Table took place in the Almhütte at Magical Maastricht Vrijthof square. The event was a great success with more than 125 visitors. Although the visit to Sint Servaas Basilica did not go smoothly, everything turned out fine in the end. If you were unable to visit the basilica because of the crowds, please let us know so we can organise a tour next year.

See a small photo impression of the Magic Winter Table below. These and other photos will be posted on our website soon.

  1. Meetings 2024

After a quiet period with participation meetings, this will be restarted in the new year. A frequency of once every four months (3 times a year) seems appropriate. The next meeting is scheduled for March/April.

There is also a centre consultation with similar frequency, where points in common with other central neighbourhoods are discussed. More information on the layout of the neighbourhoods can be found at centrummaastricht.nl, although this website is still under development.

  1. Centre Survey

As previously announced, another survey will be organised, like the ones conducted in 2018 and 2020. This survey will cover the city centre neighbourhoods and will be launched in March/April next year. We will keep you updated on developments.

  1. Public transport

Since October, the municipality has published a Council Information Letter (RIB) on public transport in the city centre. The aim is to stop large buses, such as the current lines 4 and 7, from passing through the city centre. Alternative routes are shown on the attached map. We will enter into discussions with the municipality about these plans in the new year.

A relocation of the OV axis is also being considered, possibly eliminating the current Boschstraat/Markt/Gubbelstraat route. You will receive more information on this next year.

  1. New waste collection schedule

The municipality recently presented a new waste calendar for the inner city. You can find it here by entering your postcode and house number. The collection days for residual bags do not start again until 10 January 2024.

An additional collection day on 3 January has been planned, which is not mentioned on the waste calendar.

This only applies to West Maastricht that there are extra collection days for the residual waste bags in the first week of January 2024. More information can be found here.
